I loved how George Bailey got absolutely poop faced at Martini’s bar, then drove home so drunk his car hit a tree.
It truly is a Wonderful Life.

Regardless, it’s currently illegal to play in certain states and provinces. Until this mess gets figured out, it’s been made impossible to function. I’m just searching for ways to make it work. |

Not normally, but as a 2 week bubble with 2 games per day? The winter classic is insanely expensive but scaling down the “bravado” and using the same facility multiple times could find balance |

Hey, J. Interesting read for sure. So many variables we face that require creative thinking. I’m kind of intrigued about the “hockey bonds”. Very interesting proposal. Am also a big fan of the increase in outdoor games. There numerous locations devoid of use that could be considered. Of course there are serious logistics that would need to be considered, but definitely something to consider. Heck 18 months ago, no one could’ve dreamed we’d be dealing with a scenario such as COVID.... I go back to a theme I presented a few blogs ago: We’re Americans, if we want something bad enough, we can create the proper environment to make it happen. Love to see the NHL get more creative than being stuck in the rut of “That’s how we’ve always done it....” Or be like some of the early replies to this post, falling back on ridiculing, or nay-saying without any solutions just to sound intelligent.... “...ba ba ba...” accomplishes soooo much.
We’re all frustrated with so much. Taking it out on a blog written by someone who’s trying to get the creative juices flowing, generate some interest, trying to keep the hockey masses energized is just silly. If you want to be negative, or condescending, or just plain rude for no other reason that to just be difficult....go someplace else. If you want to be part of something new, refreshing, thought-provoking, hang around here. Vitriol, negativity, nastiness just have no place in here... we’re better than that. At least I hope we are.... |

I always laugh at the morons who get their information from YouTube videos pretending they're smarter than everyone else. The Jimmy Tanner's and Komi Sally's. Truth is they're ignorant (frank) tards who can't think for themselves. Jump jump jump go the Lemmings!

Watching/Listening to the “classics” can be such an awesome time! “Night of the Living Dead” is on right now...campy as hell, but AWESOME to watch.
“White Christmas”, etc...reflections on days gone by where nothing was impossible and there was magic in the air...THAT’S what the NHL is going to need to recover the financials; Something unprecedented, harkening back to “the old days”. Heck, we played on frozen ponds in Port Huron when I was a kid....For ease of implementation, a really robust “neighbourhood” game may just be what the doctor ordered. Why not have a pool of players that a fan can select rosters from, then to kick off the season, an outdoor game is played in Traverse City with the teams selected from a fan vote.... play on a frozen lake up in the UP (Curtis, MI has an awesome lake....). The locations would be tough, like I said earlier, but troubled times call for unique solutions. Fans pay $5 to select a line, $7 for the 3 D-lines, etc. Kinda like an All-Star game fan vote, ya know???
Dude, NASCAR has the Daytona 500 to kick the season off and the build-up is really energizing.... But the fans are “only” fans; they only have a vested interest for their driver... If I could dump $5 to pick a starting line in the NHLs season kick-off, ya betcha I’m in on that!!
This could be really cool, J. Interested to see what some of our REGULARS think/come up with!!!! |

Always curious to see what you come up with!! Bangin’ as usual, my friend!! I still like “window-licker”.... “...booger eatin’ morons...” is another fave. Slapshot was such a great flick!! Like a Monty Python flick, sooo many good 1-liners!! |

When COVID is no more, and we’re back to “normal”, we should get a suite at the LCA for us all to catch a game...and record it! Can you imagine the quotes we could capture?? Hell, I’d contribute to that. All of your REGULARS hangin’ out, a few Vernor’s, maybe a Faygo or 3.... raise a toast to Mickey Redmod, Gordie Howe, and Manny Legacie’s partially used glove 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, and of course how easily Js blog saved the NHL!!! |

Some NHL alternatives if there's no hockey...
Phil Kessel Hot Dog eating contest. Steve Simmons vs Phil. Winner gets to choke the other one out with the Iron Sheik camel clutch hold.
Torts vs Brooksie shouting match at a local bus stop. Masks on of course. First one to lose his voice loses. I guess that's what I'm saying Brooksie!
John Cooper vs Jeff Blashill in a never blink/goofy faces match. First one to say 50 Tony Robbins cliches wins.
Leafs all stars vs Zamboni all stars. First team who can beat the Canes wins.
Red Wings vs New York Jets hockey football match. First team to 3 points wins.
Ultimate Worst GM match. Milbury vs Chiarelli. First GM to trade McDavid, MacKinnon and Hedman for Dekeyser, Helm and Nielsen wins.

Boy oh boy gang. Nothing better than drinking a few gingerales watching the Red Wings get dummied. Unless we're playing Montreal of course. Shoot er high that's where to score 'em. Picking them up and putting them down boy. That's what we did back in the day. Boy oh boy look at that gang. Boy oh boy... |

There is a whole lot that's wrong with this line of thinking in my opinion, but instead of getting myself dragged into a political argument I'll stick to math.
There are 328 million Americans, and 243,000 reported COVID deaths. Which means that, even if you assume every single American has already gotten COVID (obviously false) and that there are zero unreported deaths (also obviously false), the survival rate would still be less than 99.98 percent. (More specifically, 99.925.)
Your claim isn't merely incorrect, by at least a couple orders of magnitude. It is literally impossible. |

I do love this community. Whether we agree or not, anyone who takes time to drop a line means you gave that time to this blog, and I appreciate it. MC, absolutely. If there’s a way to get it done, I’ve often wondered about doing a game together with everyone. We’ll figure out something. In just over a year this has become a fantastic group, and we should celebrate that. We could have an awesome time! |

I do like the blog really and fresh ideas to fix things (And well McMaster take).
Sadly when talking about needing money and all that, I do believe the pandemic might actually kill sporting off, I personally cancelled my centre ice now before there is even a season. Being from Canada having a Canadian division sounds like a good idea and all but really without the fans the revenue is truly not there.
Should the NHL shut down? Probably not because then everyone loses but right now it is not a money making venture at all everyone is investing money into something that without fans you have nothing which is really too bad. With no actual end in sight possibly I don't believe things survive. |

My family and I watch it’s a wonderful life every Christmas Eve. My father is very far from an emotional man but when Harry makes a toast to “his big brother George, the richest man in Bedford falls” like clockwork you will see a tear falling down his cheek.
I understand the critics that it may seem a little too dark to be a Christmas movie, I myself was afraid of it when I was a kid. But I don’t think those people are also seeing the greater picture. It’s an excellent piece of storytelling and it has a fair amount of sappy hallmark movie type romance in it for those that are into that stuff. Most of all though it’s about the importance of family and friends, the two things that bring most meaning to your life as quoted in Clarence’s copy of Tom Sawyer “no man is a failure who has friends”. Add in the fantastic acting of jimmy Stewart and your have yourself a great movie |

Well you can't be a certifiable, insecure, ignorant, unintelligent, low self esteemed, attention seeking, gutless piece of $hit like you are. Does this answer your stupid question? Here's an idea. Why don't you go (frank) yourself? |
